Welcoming Richard Holmes to Kiernander! 🎸

On Monday, 7th April, Richard Holmes stepped into uncharted territory to audition for Kiernander. Meeting a new band and proving your chops is never easy, but Richard showed up ready to take on the challenge. Naturally, he made the rookie mistake of revealing which songs he found toughest—and, as you’d expect, we made sure to play those right at the start. Talk about a baptism by fire!

But despite our antics and relentless banter, Richard held his own, delivering groove, grit, and good vibes every step of the way. He not only impressed us with his skill but also proved he could keep up with our sense of humour and camaraderie.

We’re excited to announce that Richard Holmes is now officially part of the Kiernander family! We can’t wait to see how he brings his own flavour to our music and adventures.

That said, one thing remains: we’re still trying to find him the perfect nickname. Richard has suggested “Ma Bass Thang,” inspired by The Wonder Stuff bassist and a Heaven 17 track. While it’s clever, we’ve been joking that names like “Watson’s Basemate,” “Sherlock Grooves,” or “The Baker Street Bassman” might better suit his surname. What do you think? Got any suggestions? Let us know!

Welcome aboard, Richard!
